Can Art Revive South Chicago?

Maria Vargas stands in front of the original site of SkyART on 91st Street in South Chicago. She used to come here every day after school when she was in high school. Now she is a teaching artist at SkyART.
Kimberly Jin, a graduate student at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism contacted SkyART Executive Director Sarah Ward about writing a story on the arts in South Chicago. Her story got picked up by Block Club Chicago. Congratulations Kimberly! What a great article. We are so happy to be a part of such a vibrant community, using art to revive the neighborhood one young participant at a time.
