Are you cooking at home? Watching movies on Netflix instead of at the theater, or learning to mix your own perfect Manhattan? Us too.
From the team at SkyART, we hope that this difficult time has also provided an opportunity to learn new things and spend quality time with loved ones. For all of the Saturday night dinners, family movie nights and happy hours with friends that we’re missing, stuck at home, we’re also reflecting on what we’ve gained and how lucky we are to have a home, a Netflix account, Wifi, enough food for the whole family… The list of things to be grateful for is endless. We’re also thinking about the families in our community who don’t have those basic things that make quarantining together so much more tolerable.
With that money you’re not spending during the Coronavirus crisis, you can make a difference! If, instead of spending at least $200.00 for your family movie and dinner night, you donate that same amount to SkyART, at least 20 kids will get art supplies.
Remember that delicious latte you used to buy every morning before work or the juicy Chicago hotdog that you would enjoy for lunch at the office? For the price of workday coffee and lunch for one month, around $500.00, SkyART can help one family begin to heal by providing 6–10 free Art Therapy sessions with special trauma specific art supplies.
Did you get a refund for the Spring Break vacation you booked? The price of your $5,000.00 family trip or couples retreat could provide art therapy to ten SkyART participants.
Please consider making a donation to SkyART for the amount of any leisure or entertainment activity that you and your family are not currently able to enjoy. You can make a big difference in a young person’s life with just the amount that you would have spent anyway. Thank you!
In other news: This pandemic is hard for everyone. Don’t take our word for it: In a survey recently conducted by SkyART staff, 53 percent of families requested free Art Therapy because they are concerned about their children’s wellbeing.
We’re also thrilled to share that we’ve partnered with Masks4Chi to provide reusable face masks for participants and their families who receive free art supplies from SkyART. Each art kit will now include a set of two reusable masks.
