With creativity at the center of everything we do, SkyART provides free, safe, open spaces where young people are empowered, nurtured and connected through art.
Since 2001, SkyART has been an unwavering cornerstone in the South Chicago community, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of thousands of young artists. Our presence extends far beyond SkyART studios, reaching deep into schools and communities through dynamic collaborations with partner organizations.
Recognizing the shared challenges in historically disinvested West Side neighborhoods, in 2020, SkyART made a commitment to expand access to its programs. Since then, we have partnered with schools, community organizations and incarceration centers to deliver our free art programs, including art therapy to hundreds of youth in Chicago’s West Side neighborhoods. This expansion is not just about growth; it’s a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing free and safe space for youth through Chicago.
In 2023, we moved into a 7,500-square-foot building in East Garfield Park, beginning work on our largest studio space to date. SkyART is demonstrating our commitment to West Side communities by purchasing the building and embarking on a campaign to fund the building acquisition and three years of operating expenses.
